We assist the State Department of Public Health by providing counseling services to parents who receive a diagnosis of sickle cell trait for newborns.
We work to raise awareness about sickle cell disease and sickle cell trait through educational seminars; health fairs; workshops; in-service training; meetings and presentations throughout our service area.
We have certified single-gene genetic counselors and educators onsite to provide counseling for parents, adults, and families affected by sickle cell disease and sickle cell trait.
Support group sessions provide an opportunity for Clients to share personal experiences with sickle cell treatments, challenges, and coping strategies.
Free transportation provided as needed for medical appointments. A request for transportation assistance must be made at least 3 days before a scheduled appointment.
